about

The View From a Hill is the second full-length release from The Owl Service. Steven Collins began work on TVFAH as soon as he'd completed the first Owl Service record in June 2007, and recording continued until February 2010. Several other projects were recorded alongside TVFAH, and in fact the band signed to, and subsequently left, UK independent stalwarts Southern Records during the album's realisation. Collins was determined to move away from the 'psych folk' sound of the first record, the whole sound and movement becoming hackneyed in his eyes. Instead, he planned to create a different kind of modern folk record which would appeal to hardcore folk fans and lovers of alternative, minimal rock music alike.
